I was reading an article by Dave Ramsey and, as usual, was blown away by his honesty and explanation.
Some people consider insurance a necessary evil - you don't want to pay for it, worry about it, think about it, deal with an agent, etc., but when you need it, you are very glad you have it.
The basic purpose of insurance is to transfer risk - the insurance company assumes the risk and if, or when, something bad happens, assuming you have the appropriate coverage, they cover the determined $$ amount or percentage of the cost.
Make sure you are covered adequately. It is bad news when you aren't and need to be.
