We all need a basic disaster supply kit.

A good place to start for a basic disaster supply kit:

Your need one gallon of water per person per day for at least 3 days. This will be for drinking and sanitation.

Gather up some non-perishable food - at least a 3 day supply.

Get a battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio - and extra batteries!!!!

Get at least one good flashlight and extra batteries.

A first aid kit...probably a few steps above the basic just in case.

In case you have to be rescued, you need a whistle to signal for help.

Stock up on a few dust masks to help filter contaminated air.

Also get some plastic sheeting and duct tape to make a shelter in place.

Gather some moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties for personal sanitation needs. You are going to have to go potty.

In case you need to turn off water or gas, put a wrench or pliers with your supplies.

Get a manual can opener for your food!

Get some cell phone chargers that are solar charged.

You may want to also consider a supply of any meds you take on regular basis.

Also, if you have a baby, diapers and formula.

Pets? Don't forget them. Food and extra water for them!
